In today’s world, near about 19% of the world population is suffering with some sort of disability. One of the main problems they face in their daily lives is mobility. The person needs to be assisted by someone all the time so keeping that thought in mind and after reviewing all the existing solutions in the society we came up with the idea of a wheelchair which can be operated by the patient himself/herself with zero effort. The main idea of our project is to help people with disabilities and make their commuting easier at an affordable and low cost. We have built a motorized wheelchair with app-based controls. It will consist of an autonomous mode, where there will be a map set by the user for the commuting. Here after just selecting the destination by the user, the vehicle will itself carry the passenger to the desired location by itself. For commercial usage in hospitals we added features like occupancy detection and pulse checker on the wheel chair. It also comprises of a panic button which if pressed thrice sends a message to the emergency contact predefined by the user notifying them that the patient needs attention. We believe this will be a life saving feature in emergency situations. Apart from all these, the vehicle can also be used with manual controls. We kept everything simple so that the patient can use the device with no stress at all. Even if he/she needs assistance, the device can be controlled by multiple users at the same time. Lastly in order to carry the wheelchair to places, we kept folding capability so that it uses minimum space while being carried.
