There are various types of lock systems like Deadbolt lock, Retinal scanner, Iris scanner, Face detection based lock, RFID reader based lock, Password authentication based lock etc. Security has been playing a key role in many of our places like offices, institutions, libraries etc. in order to keep our data confidentially so that no other unauthorized person could have an access on them. There are lots of solutions available for this issue and complete solution for this problem is not yet discovered. Our project “Finger print based door lock system” provides freedom from mental and physical stress faced by individual while moving away from their home. Stored fingerprints are retained even in the event of complete power failure or battery drain. With biometric door locks, your fingerprint is the key. They replace keyed locking mechanisms with a fingerprint sensor that actually recognizes who is and who is not authorized to enter. If the fingerprint matches, the door will be opened automatically otherwise the buzzer connected to an audio amplifier will be activated so that the people near the surroundings will get an alert. This system is built with open source hardware. In this project the fingerprint module from Mixes Biometrics is used. It can store up to 126 finger prints on its own memory. The system we have created operates only one lock, but we can add more electronic locks and each lock can be unlocked by specific person’s fingertip. This project can also be used in many vast areas such as fingerprint based attendance system, computerized fingerprint lock system, smartphone based fingerprint security system and also using decoder network system.
