BACS High School Programming Contest

Organized By: Department of ECE with support from NSU ACM Student Chapter

Those of us with a penchant for programming will be glad to learn that North South University is proudly hosting the BACS High School Programming Contest, to be held on the 27th of July, 2018. The event is sponsored jointly by CodeMarshal and Software Shop Limited(SSL) Wireless and will be organized by the ECE Department of NSU with support from NSU ACM Student Chapter.

The goal of the BACS (Bangladesh Advanced Computing Society) is to to train programming talents to achieve success in competitive programming and thus contribute to ICT sector in Bangladesh. To this end, BACS is holding their first programming contest aimed at all high-school students between Grades 6 to 12, divided into ‘junior’ and ‘senior’ sections. The contest itself will be carried out in the standard IOI (International Olympiad in Informatics) format.

This contest is not only being held in Dhaka, but on a national scale including Sylhet, Chittagong, Rajshahi and Khulna. The winners of each region will then compete in the Nationals which will also be held in Dhaka. Additionally, they will also gain acceptance to the BACS Regional Programming Camps, where they will spend 3 days learning and further improving their skills in competitive programming.

With Bangladesh rapidly developing in the tech sector, this great initiative will help young people develop their skills in programming so they can contribute to future development. North South University and NSU ACM Student Chapter both wholeheartedly support this initiative and hope more events of this nature are held in the future.
