ECE Chair Professor Mohammad Abdul Matin Co-Authors Prestigious IET Book on Sustainable Smart Cities

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at North South University (NSU) proudly announces the publication of a major international academic work titled
“Enabling Technologies for Sustainable Smart Cities: Design, Development and Management”, co-authored by Professor Mohammad Abdul Matin, Chair of the ECE Department.

The book, published by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) — one of the world’s largest and most respected professional engineering organizations, with over 169,000 members in 150 countries — explores the enabling technologies, design principles, and management strategies driving the evolution of sustainable and intelligent urban systems worldwide.

This significant publication highlights NSU’s growing engagement in cutting-edge global research and reflects Professor Matin’s continued contributions to the international academic community.

In this project, Professor Matin collaborated with two globally renowned scholars:

  • Prof. Sotirios K. Goudos, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece — Director of the ELEDIA@AUTH Lab, Founding Editor-in-Chief of an open-access journal, and Associate Editor for several IEEE publications including IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, IEEE Access, and IEEE Open Journal of the Communication Society.
  • Prof. Emmanouil M. Tentzeris, Ed and Pat Joy Endowed Chair Professor at the Georgia Institute of Technology, USA — a distinguished expert in flexible and printed RF electronics, antennas, IoT systems, and sustainable energy technologies. He is a Fellow of the IEEE and the Electromagnetics Academy, with over 850 published papers and extensive leadership in international IEEE conferences.

Together, the authors provide a comprehensive and forward-looking perspective on the integration of emerging technologies in the context of smart and sustainable city design — a topic of growing importance for the future of urban development, energy efficiency, and intelligent infrastructure.
